The second round of ‘After the Flood’ Caspian Lake water quality test results are in.
Water samples were taken on Monday, July 15, 2024.
The threshold for safe swimming are E.coli levels of LESS than 235 E. coli per 100 ml.
Four areas of Caspian Lake were tested:
● Levels at the Cemetery Brook delta have fallen from 60 to 15.
● Levels at the public beach have fallen from 53 to 10.
● Levels at the cove south of Black’s Point have fallen from 980 to 23. [We wonder if
the first result at this site was error or contamination of the test sample.]
● Levels at the cove north of Black’s Point was zero.
● The Highland Lodge beach was not retested.
These results are more in line with the historical data. Water testing at the Caspian
Town Beach will continue throughout the summer.
