The State of Vermont requires towns and cities to update their Town Plans at least every 8 years. Greensboro’s last Town Plan was written in 2019.
Specific reasons to have a town plan include:
- Guide for community investments – Information in the Plan can be used for developing recommendations contained in the Town’s capital plan and for providing guidance to the Select Board
- Guide for local regulations – All land use regulations, including zoning, must be consistent with the goals of the Plan. The plan is the foundation for our existing and future regulations
- Support for state grant applications – Many grant programs available to Greensboro consider whether the town has stated a need for the grant request in its Plan.
The Greensboro Planning Commission (GPC) will present the draft 2026 Plan for review by town residents at a public hearing on Wednesday, November 4th, at 6:30, in the Fellowship Hall of the Greensboro United Church of Christ. At the Public Hearing the GPC will listen to feedback and suggestions town residents may have on the new Plan. Dessert will be provided. Arrangements have been made to make this Public Hearing available via Zoom (with chat enabled) for those who cannot attend the meeting in person. See the Zoom link below.
The Plan reflects the GPC’s work over the last two years, in collaboration with residents, community organizations and planning partners, to prioritize a broad range of goals for Greensboro’s future and to list specific strategies to achieve those goals.

Paper copies of the draft Town Plan are available from the Town Clerk’s office during regular office hours.
