Greensboro Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is a public advisory board and its purpose is to review and advise the Selectboard on public and private activities involving the physical, social, and economic development of the town and to review and make a comprehensive long-range plan for the development of the town (view the Town Plans). The Commission also reviews and advises the Selectboard on the creation and revision of town bylaws (view the Zoning By-Laws).

Updates from the GPC

Future Town Plan update: With the assistance of various community members, the GPC continues to work on writing the Town Plan which helps guide the town’s vision for future growth. Public hearings about this work is anticipated in the late summer, 2026.

Shoreland Protection District Bylaws and other Miscellaneous Amendments: The GPC held a Public Hearing about proposed amendments to the Shoreland Protection District Bylaws and other items on April 28, 2026 in our Town Hall Meeting Room. Final GPC approval of the proposed amendments is expected shortly thereafter at which time the GPC will forward the proposed bylaws onto the Selectboard for their review and public hearing. New Flood and River Corridor Bylaws: The GPC approved the final Flood and River Corridor bylaw amendments and submitted them to the Select Board on April 8, 2026. Flood materials can be found here. Stay tuned for next steps when the Select Board schedules their public hearing on these proposed amendments.

Ongoing and Future GPC Work:

1. Preparing the draft of the new Town Plan.
2. Following through on the new proposed amended bylaws until they are approved by the community.(See above.)
3. Evaluating areas of our current bylaws which will need updating after finalizing the new Town Plan.

Meetings & Agendas

Hybrid meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the Greensboro Town Hall Meeting Room and on Zoom. Typically, meetings start at 5 PM. Please check the town calendar for a specific time.
